March 11, 2006
Hello Everyone,
The Continental Classic was March 11th. We got up at 3:30 AM to be in
Montgomery by 5AM. We sat up registration tables and then I worked rest stop 5
while Jake and Ryan directed the cyclist as they entered into Montgomery.
The weather held off and there was a little wind. It was a long day with the
last rider called " the turtle" coming in at 3:45PM. I'm not sure how many
miles he had done that day. I have a whole new respect for the people that
sweep or wait for the last few riders to come in.
The Classic itself was good. We had 1100 riders and we went threw most of the
supplies so we don't have to worry about storing so much. Now we will focus on
the MS150. Making sure the Continental Team has the food and support that it
needs. It is nice to ride for a team. It takes some of the pressure off the MS
to have to take care of all 13,000 of us. People get more personalized care
than individuals with out a team. Some teams get massages for their riders.
Little prizes and shorter food lines are a few things I like.
The girl's are camping with friends at Garner Park this week. I will be doing
spin class with Ryan on Wednesday. We are registered for the Justin Taylor
Ride in Montgomery March 26th. I am thinking about doing the Kaddishes ride on
Saturday the 25th. I really should be going door to door instead.
We are close to getting our financial requirement meet. However there is no
limit to how much one should raise when it comes from doing it from the heart.
I don't think of it as meeting the requirement and then stopping to raise
money. It is nice when that burden is gone and you are just asking people if
they want to give "Cheerfully and not grudgingly if you know what I mean. Take
care and we will be talking again soon.
