The Shared Decision-Making Committee meets the State of Texas and HISD guidelines and exists to collaborate in a constructive and organized manner for the purpose of advancing the education of children and advising the principal. The committee serves as an avenue for the Wilson community to share in the decision-making process in establishing, monitoring, and evaluating goals for the school’s organization. The SDMC addresses concerns regarding planning, school organization, professional development, and staffing patterns. The committee sets, interprets, and modifies school policy as related to professional development and channels concerns to the appropriate standing committees. The SDMC is comprised of staff members, administrators, parents, and community members appointed by the principal. The SDMC serves as an advisory group that assists the
principal with decisions. Decisions are made through consensus with at
least five SDMC members present. Committee members, parents, teachers,
and other interested individuals may bring their concerns or suggestions
to the SDMC by submitting requests in writing on a Concern Form and
placing it in the SDMC mailbox. The SDMC will direct the Concern Form to
the correct committee for discussion, or act on the concern at the next
SDMC meeting. Minutes from the SDMC meetings will be typed and
distributed by the appointed secretary and will be posted on the bulletin board outside the office. 2006-2007 SDMC Members
