Coordinator
Welcome to an exciting 2007-2008 school
year. We are an extended day magnet program which means
students stay after school until 4:45 p.m. Our primary
focus is on fine arts. The classes are art, dance, music, rollerblades,
dance / folklorico, tennis and integrated Kindergarten. Our magnet
students have participated in several activities and projects since
August and are looking forward to several more before the end of the
year. Our program has an enrollment of 185 students in grades K-5.
Students must have an E or S in conduct to be in the extended day
program. They are in their assigned classes from 3:30 to
4:30 pm.

PURPOSE
The Magnet School Plan of the Houston Independent School District offers
students a choice of a number of specialized programs on all grade
levels (K-12). Developed and implemented in 1975, the plan is designed
to provide programs of quality education that will “attract” students to
them voluntarily.
WHO MAY ENROLL
The Extended Day Magnet Program is designed for children in grades K-5.
Students are accepted on the basis of
an interest in an extended day class
and space available.
Students must have or maintain an
“S “in conduct to enter or stay in the magnet program. In addition,
students must have good attendance.
