Cage Elementary School is located in the
beautiful city of Houston, TX,
and it is part of the Houston Independent School District school
system. The Houston Independent
School District is the largest public school system in Texas and
the seventh largest in the United States. Our schools serve a
diversified student enrollment in both traditional and alternative
classroom settings. HISD is dedicated to giving every student the best
possible education through an intensive core curriculum and
specialized, challenging instructional and career programs. HISD is
working hard to be the nation’s best school system, constantly
improving and refining instruction and management to make them as
effective, productive, and economical as possible. Our standards are
high, and we strive constantly to raise them still higher.
Rufus Cage Elementary School was founded in 1903 as
a two-room school house to serve children living in the rural area
east of Houston. Across the decades of growth and change one
thing remains constant: our commitment to ensuring that every child
achieves high academic standards and develops learning strategies
essential for future success.
Project Chrysalis, a charter middle school, was
designed as a small school alternative for the East End's children.
The school has been housed on the Cage Elementary Campus since 1995.
Chrysalis has grown from a team-taught sixth and seventh grade class
to an established middle school with 125 students and 8 faculty and
staff members. It provides an extended day, extended year program,
which emphasizes project-based and interdisciplinary learning. |
