School Academics

Besides learning the core curriculum, such as, Reading, Math, Writing, Science, and Social Studies, Cage Elementary students attend different labs:

  • Science lab
  • Computer lab
  • Math lab
  • Writing lab

As well as ancillary classes such as Physical Education and Music. Students have the choice to join one of several music clubs according to their skills and interests. Our music program has produced fantastic young musicians and has taught many, many students to play guitar, recorder, flute, and keyboards among several other instruments.

Extra Curricular Activities

Music Clubs

Music is a fun and growing program at Cage Elementary led by Mrs. Bohorquez (Ms. B). Starting as young as Kindergarten, students can join a children’s choir called “Coquitos”. Then at 3rd grade they can join different music clubs after school including: Advanced Choir, Recorder Choir, Guitar Club, and Band.

These groups give students a chance to develop skills learned in class and to have fun performing in many different settings. Students involved in music learn self-discipline, organizational skills, and commitment. But the real reason to join is because we have a GREAT time in music at Cage!!

Cheerleaders

The Cage Cheerleading Squad commenced during the 2002-2003 school year. Cheerleading began as a form of enrichment and a means to develop the students' dance talent, self-discipline, and appreciation for teamwork. Some of the scheduled performances are during the Christmas Program, Cinco de Mayo Program, and TAKS Pep Rally among others.  Tryouts for Cheerleading are held in May.  Boys and girls must be in the 3-5 grade during the following school year to participate.
