Cub Scouts |

Cage's Cub Scout Troop, Pack 1375, of about 20
first - fifth grade boys resumed the program in the 2002-2003 school year
under the guidance of Cub Master Ruben Gonzales. Through fun and
adventure, young boys learn principles of good citizenship, personal
achievement, spiritual growth, and character development, among others.
This year, Scouts and their parent volunteers have participated in the
Fishing Derby, Cuboree Weekend Extravaganza, and popcorn fundraising.
Currently, the troop is preparing for the Blue and Gold Recognition Event
and Summer Camp. Meetings are held year-round every Monday, from 6 - 7
p.m. in room 104. If you would like more information about Cub Scouts,

Cheerleaders |

The Cage Cheerleading Squad commenced during the
2002-2003 school year under the instruction of Vanessa Flores and Cynthia
Ybarra. Cheerleading began as a form of enrichment and a means to
develop the students' dance talent, self-discipline, and appreciation for
teamwork. Practices are held on Tuesdays from 3:30 - 4:30 p.m.
Performances scheduled are Open House, Christmas Program, Cinco de Mayo
Parade, TAKS Pep Rally, and Cinco de Mayo Program. Tryouts for
Cheerleading are held in May. Boys and girls must be in the 3-5 grade
during the following school year to participate. If you are interested

Ballet Folklorico / Modeling |

The Ballet
Folklorico / Modeling program strives to develop appreciation of physical
movement, various types of music, and artistic dance. Dance
instruction is given by Angelica Sifuentes who will be accompanied by
choreographer, Juan Zamora. Mr. Zamora will visit from Mexico during
the end of April to the beginning of May to instruct participants in modern
dance. Practices will take place 2 times per week, from 3:30 - 4:30
p.m. The dance group of 30+ first through third students will perform
at the Cinco de Mayo program as well other school programs. Although
there is no cost to participate, students are responsible for purchasing 3
costumes. Currently, the dance group is recruiting boys and girls in

Odyssey of the Mind |

Odyssey of the Mind (OEM) is a multidisciplinary
learning whereby students apply science and problem solving to build
projects. OEM members are working together to build the Envirover, a
human powered vehicle that collects and delivers trash to a factory to be
used for manufacturing a specific product. While learning how to build
this project, creativity and imagination are fostered without focusing on
the right answer. Meetings are held on Mondays, as well as other days,
