“Super Tuesday” is tomorrow (December 2^nd) at Skeeter’s Grill

Come join us for our monthly “Super Tuesday” event—this month at Skeeter’s Grill (5529 Weslayan at Bissonnet). 20% of the proceeds from the entire day go to Condit. Bring your Wednesday folder flyer and come join the fun! The Reach For The Stars Committee would like to thank you for putting the FUN in this FUNdraiser.

 

Volunteers Needed in School Store

We are looking for additional volunteers in the school store. Store hours are 7:30-7:50 AM every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. If you can help on any of these days, please contact Joan Ounanian at joantoys1@sbcglobal.net.

 

Volunteers Needed in Library

The library has openings for volunteers! Tuesdays 2:10-2:55 PM (5^th graders) and Fridays 1:00-1:45 PM (4^th graders). Volunteers are also needed after school on Mondays and Thursdays from 3:00-4:00. If you are able to give one hour each week to assist with easy tasks in the library, please contact Charie Procter at charie@cheerful.com or 713-349-0606. Thank you!

 

Volunteers Needed in AR Store

The AR (Accelerated Reader) Store is now open with students shopping every 5-6 weeks. We are still looking for a few volunteers to help on Wednesdays and Fridays, 2:00-3:00 PM. Contact Paula or Donna if you can help (paula@petrologistics.com or gersh@sbcglobal.net).

 

Holiday Collection for Ancillary Teachers and Condit Support Staff

The PTO is organizing a collection of funds to divide among the Ancillary Teachers and the Condit Support Staff. If you’d like to participate, please put your donation (check or cash) in the appropriate box in the school office. (Look for the boxes later this week.) There will be for Ancillary Teachers and one for Staff. Please remember to sign the appropriate sheets next to the boxes. The deadline is Tuesday, December 16th. Questions? Room parents may opt to arrange teacher presents, so check with your room parent concerning your child’s main teacher. Participation in any of this holiday giving is purely optional.

 

Open House Tours for Magnet Week December 11 & 12

Are you proud of our school? We have a great opportunity to show off our school to prospective kindergarten parents on December 11 and 12 from 8:15 to 10:30 AM. If you would like to help provide tours to these parents, please contact Sheryl Moore for more information (conditptopres@swbell.net or 713-666-6157). It’s easy and fun, and it’s a great way to meet new people and show them just how special Condit is.

 

Note about student attendance during Magnet Week

HISD’s Attendance Accounting Handbook, which Condit must follow, states the following: “An elementary student’s absence during official ADA attendance time (10:00 A.M.) as a result of an individual visit to a Magnet school during Magnet Week is not considered an extracurricular, cocurricular, or district-sponsored activity for the purposes of attendance accounting. The student must be counted absent.” Please be aware of this change, especially 5^th grade families, as you consider touring schools during magnet week.

 

PTO Holiday Party is set for Thursday, December 18^th

Carol and Gordie Beittenmiller have graciously agreed to host our annual holiday party on Thursday, December 18^th, 7:00 PM. Mark your calendar and look for more information in Wednesday folder and in upcoming weekly emails.

 

Mark Your Calendar: Family Fun Night is January 30^th 6 to 8:30 PM

From under the sea and onto the shore, come “sea” what Condit’s Family Fun Night has in store! Mark your calendar for Friday, January 30, 2009, 6:00-8:30 PM at Pin Oak Middle School. Look for more information to come after the Holiday Break.
