School Principal

I am Laquetta Kennedy and I have the wonderful, awesome task of serving as Principal of Felix Cook, Jr. Elementary School and Fine Arts Academy.   I look forward to working with you and serving your children.  Our teachers and staff are dedicated to providing every child with the best educational opportunities possible.

 Parents are teachers too!  You are the first, most long-lasting, most important teachers in your child’s life.  That is why we at Cook Elementary continually solicit your involvement and support.

 I urge you to get involved in our school by maintaining contact with your children’s teachers.  Feel free to ask questions and attend parent conferences. Please be supportive of our exciting school wide activities.

 Home and school working together as a team can make this school year a very successful one for your children.  We want you to feel that you are a welcome part of our school and that Cook Elementary is your school.

Stefanie Solomon   Assistant Principal

Stefanie Solomon is certainly no stranger to the Houston Independent School District.  She has worked for HISD 19 years.  Ms. Solomon has worked as Assistant Principal for 3 years at Felix Cook, Jr. Elementary School.  Ms. Solomon began her career at Rosa Lee Easter Elementary School where she taught Special Education Students and later became the 21st Century After-School Program Coordinator.  She then moved into Administration in 2002 as Assistant Principal at Betsy Ross Elementary.  She then moved back to Easter, Chatham, and Sanderson Elementary Schools as Assistant Principal for all three schools during the transition into the new Felix Cook Elementary School.  She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Houston Area Alliance of Black School Educations, and the Houston Alliance of School Administrators.  She is very energetic and outgoing administrator committed to the success of every child.  Ms. Solomon believes that, "as educational leaders in inner city schools, we are truly responsible for the well being of every child we serve.  If we continue to work together with teachers, parents and the community, No Child in HISD Will  Be Left Behind."
