Irene Dotson: My name is Mrs.
Irene Dotson and I am the Physical Education Teacher here at Cook
Elementary. I received my Bachelors and Masters of Education from
Texas Southern University, and have been teaching for 31 years. My
goal is to help children develope physically, socially and
intellectually by presenting a wide variety of postivie skills and
activities. It is also my plan to allow children to have a choice
in the way they display their talents.
Olivia Baker: My name
is Olivia Baker and I have been in education for more than 30
years. I am a graduate of Prairie View A & M University and
completed graduate courses at the University of Houston Central
Campus. I have been a Classroom Teacher, Librarian, and a
Teacher Technologist. My teaching experience ranges from elementary
to senior high levels. I am presently the Librarian at Felix Cook
Jr. Elementary.
Randy Dunn: has a Bachelor of
Music Degree from the University of Houston Moores School of
Music. He has also taken graduate level courses at the Moores
School and at Towson State University in Maryland. Mr. Dunn has
taught band and music for over twenty years.
In addition to
teaching, Mr. Dunn is also active as a professional musician, and
works as a free lance trumpet player in the greater Houston area.
Mr. Dunn is also a professional music composer, and has published
several of his compositions and arrangements, including music for
concert bands published by Avalon Press. He also works as a
composer, music and sound editor, and consultant for Chaos Films
LLC, and has written and produced music for several films and
television shows.
Christian Perkins: A native
of New Orleans, Louisiana with a degree in
Advertising Art, from Prairie View A&M University. Christian has been a professional
exhibiting artist for over 10 years, a high school art teacher for 5
years, and an elementary art teacher for 2 years. His works are sold
to both private and corporate buyers, both locally and nationally.
St.Lascheal Jarvis:
I am a proud
graduate of Prairie View A & M University with a Bachelor of Arts &
Science Degree in
Social Work. This is my third year teaching Computer Technology. I
love working with children
and watching their faces light up with excitment as they meet their
challenges in the computer lab.
It is wonderful to see children explore and expand their creativity through the
use of technology.
Phyllis K. Gooden:
A native Houstonian, Phyllis K. Gooden is a graduate of The
University of North Texas State in Denton, TX (B.A. Dance) and the
University of Idaho, Moscow Idaho (Master's Education, Dance
Pedagogy). She has performed nationwide as an actress and dancer
and has choreographed for numerous musicals and dance productions.
She is delighted and grateful to be able to give back to the
community where she was reared.
Marcus Walker: My name is
Marcus Walker and I attended Lamar University. This is my second
year teaching Keyboarding at Cook Elementary. I have a strong
passion for music. My motto is music is a universal language and
truly the greatest of all arts.
Jacqueline Lee:
My name is Jacqueline Lee and I am the Science Lead
Teacher. I am a Georgia native. I recieved my B.S.Degree
from Georgia
College State University
and my Specialist Degree
from the University of
West Georgia. My major in college was Biology and I am
thrilled to be working in the science lab at
Cook Elementary.
In the science lab,
students will grow seeds, explore electrical circuits,
explore sound by designing and constructing their own
instruments, complete science projects, explore conservation
with the Water Wise program and build rockets using the
experimental design process.
My vision is for the
students to enjoy hands-on-science. These students are our
future doctors, veternarians, research scientists, dentists,
geologists, engineers and rocket scientists. They deserve
to enjoy learning science at the highest level that I can
provide. At Cook Elementary, we are "blasting off with
science".
