Enrichment & Fine Arts Team

Irene Dotson:  My name is Mrs. Irene Dotson and I am the Physical Education Teacher here at Cook Elementary. I received my Bachelors and Masters of Education from Texas Southern University, and have been teaching for 31 years. My goal is to help children develope physically, socially and intellectually by presenting a wide variety of postivie skills and activities.  It is also my plan to allow children to have a choice in the way they display their talents.

Olivia Baker:  My name is Olivia Baker and I have been in education for more than 30 years. I am a graduate of Prairie View A & M University and completed graduate courses at the University of Houston Central Campus.  I have been a Classroom Teacher, Librarian, and a Teacher Technologist. My teaching experience ranges from elementary to senior high levels. I am presently the Librarian at Felix Cook Jr. Elementary.

Randy Dunn: has a Bachelor of Music Degree from the University of Houston Moores  School of Music.  He has also taken graduate level courses at the Moores School and at Towson State University in Maryland.  Mr. Dunn has taught band and music for over twenty years.

In addition to teaching, Mr. Dunn is also active as a professional musician, and works as a free lance trumpet player in the greater Houston area.  Mr. Dunn is also a professional music composer, and has published several of his compositions and arrangements, including music for concert bands published by Avalon Press.  He also works as a composer, music and sound editor, and consultant for Chaos Films LLC, and has written and produced music for several films and television shows.

Christian Perkins:  A native of New Orleans, Louisiana with a degree in Advertising Art, from Prairie View A&M University. Christian has been a professional exhibiting artist for over 10 years, a high school art teacher for 5 years, and an elementary art teacher for 2 years. His works are sold to both private and corporate buyers, both locally and nationally.

St.Lascheal Jarvis:  I am  a proud graduate of Prairie View A & M University with a Bachelor of Arts & Science  Degree in Social Work. This is my third year teaching Computer Technology. I love  working with children and watching their faces light up with excitment as they meet their challenges in the computer lab.  It is wonderful to see children explore and expand their creativity  through the use of technology.

Phyllis K. Gooden:  A native Houstonian, Phyllis K. Gooden is a graduate of The University of North Texas State in Denton, TX (B.A. Dance) and the University of Idaho, Moscow Idaho (Master's Education, Dance Pedagogy).  She has performed nationwide as an actress and dancer and has choreographed for numerous musicals and dance productions.  She is delighted and grateful to be able to give back to the community where she was reared.

Marcus Walker:  My name is Marcus Walker and I attended Lamar University.  This is my second year teaching Keyboarding at Cook Elementary.  I have a strong passion for music.  My motto is music is a universal language and truly the greatest of all arts.

Jacqueline Lee:   My name is Jacqueline Lee and I am the Science Lead Teacher.  I am a Georgia native.  I recieved my B.S.Degree from Georgia College State University and my Specialist Degree from the University of West Georgia.  My major in college was Biology and I am thrilled to be working in the science lab at Cook Elementary.

In the science lab, students will grow seeds, explore electrical circuits, explore sound by designing and constructing their own instruments, complete science projects, explore conservation with the Water Wise program and build rockets using the experimental design process.

My vision is for the students to enjoy hands-on-science.  These students are our future doctors, veternarians, research scientists, dentists, geologists, engineers and rocket scientists.  They deserve to enjoy learning science at the highest level that I can provide.  At Cook Elementary, we are "blasting off with science".
