School Nurse

Cunningham  Elementary School has a full time nurse.  If the student is injured or becomes ill during school hours, the nurse will assess him or her.  The (elementary) school nurse throughout the school year will conduct various health screenings.  Please contact your school nurse (713) 295-5223) whenever you have questions or concerns about your student’s health. Nurse Buonora is CPR/AED certified.

The Pediatric Clinic

The SuperKids Mobile Pediatric Clinic is a colorful cartoon-adorned medical motor coach is providing preventative health care to students at Cunningham, Pilgrim and Piney Point elementary schools. It is collaboration between Texas Children's Hospital. Baylor College of Medicine, the City of Houston Health and Human Services Department, Houston Independent School District, Harris County Hospital District and the Junior League of Houston. Click on the schedule below for dates and time at Cunningham and surrounding schools. Students under the age of 18 are eligible for services. Emergency First Aid
School personnel will provide only emergency first aid.  More serious injuries such as fractures and lacerations that require sutures will be treated with emergency first aid  and support measures until a parent/guardian can be contacted.  When neither parent can be reached nor the alternate responsible person(s) listed on the emergency card, the child will be referred to his or her family doctor or, if unavailable, the ER  physician on call at he hospital.

Medication NO STUDENT SHOULD CARRY MEDICATIONS OF ANY TYPE ON THEIR PERSON.  The nurse or a designated staff person will administer medication according to school district policy. The only exception is an inhaler for asthma or an Epi-pen for allergies.  The appropriate parent and permission forms must be on file with the School Nurse. 

1. Prescription medication must be brought to school by a parent in the original pharmacy labeled bottle.  Every year the school nurse must receive a new physician’s order and signed  parent authorization form in order to administer medications at school.  Forms are available from the school nurse.
