Computer Lab
Mariesse Samuels - Technologist

Every  student in school attends computer lab once per week to receive instruction in computer skills and integrated technology. Our lab is equipped with  up-to-date computers and flat screen monitors.  Lessons are monitored and tracked online with assessments designed to evaluate each module of curriculum.

The State of Texas mandated curriculum for elementary school computer class is Easy Tech, a web-based software designed by Learning.com.  Beginning at the Kindergarten level, students learn keyboarding skills and progress through a sequential curriculum to learn word processing, spreadsheets,  research skills, paint and draw programs, scanning, email basics, and web building.  The program is offered in English and Spanish.  EasyTech is a Web-delivered K-8 technology literacy curriculum. It integrates technology skills into  math, science, language arts and social studies instruction.

Throughout the school year, various types of web-based software programs are introduced into the curriculum to supplement the foundation courses for each grade level.  Our recent addition of EducationCity.com is a great success!

Physical Education

Josephine Henderson and Michael Vega, Coaches

Students spend a majority of their time in school, plus school is the logical environment to teach students about healthy lifestyles and healthy choices. Healthy Kids are Smart Kids!

Physical Activity Requirements for
Grades K-5:  Required moderate to vigorous daily physical activity for at least 30 minutes as part of the district's physical education curriculum.

Music Education and Dance
Maria Lozano, Music
The importance of  music education in a child's life and Mrs. Lozano's commitment to excellence in music education go hand-in-hand to yield a superior music program for grades Pre-K through 5th grade.
Her presentations are rich with cultural and musical expertise.  Mrs. Lozano performs throughout the City of Houston as a professional keyboard artist and entertainer.

Itza Garza, Dance
In partnership with the music ed. program, Mrs. Garza's choreography skills are the perfect accompaniment to a well-rounded approach to fine arts in public education.  Her knowledge of folk, as well as classical dance styles is evident in the programs she has provided for the Garcia students in grades Pre-K through 5th grade.
