Garden Oaks Health Safety Plan April 30, 2009 1. Children will be informally assessed by campus personnel at the curb and in the cafeteria at the beginning of the day to be sure all students appear healthy. Any child appearing lethargic or exhibiting any signs of illness will be sent to the nurse immediately. 2. ANY student who complains they are not feeling well will be sent to the nurse IMMEDIATELY to be checked. The nurse will determine if a child needs to be sent home. 3. Teachers have hand sanitizer in their classrooms. Students will sanitize at will and every 60 minutes. 4. Kleenex will be readily available in the classrooms for student use. 5. All offices have one bottle of hand sanitizer per desk. Phones will be disinfected continuously throughout the day. 6. All restrooms will be checked periodically throughout the day to be sure there is anti-microbial soap readily available in the dispensers. Teachers will encourage and monitor students to be sure they are washing their hands thoroughly. 7. The nurse will be presenting information to students of the proper way to wash their hands, cover their mouth if sneezing or coughing and practice proper hygiene to stay healthy. 8. Custodial staff will take extra care to disinfect door knobs and other common areas with care to clean and sanitize the surfaces on the campus with disinfectants. 9. ANY student who complains they are not feeling well will be sent to the nurse IMMEDIATELY to be checked. 10. Shelter in Place kits are in present in every classroom stocked with district recommended supplies including First Aid supplies, hand sanitizer, gloves, and other items.
