Nancy Held, a new parent this year at Horn, has been named Volunteer of the Month for October. Nancy has quickly volunteered in several areas this year. She chaired a very successful Horn Academy PTO Membership drive which exceeded past years membership numbers. Nancy is an active member on the Horn Auction Committee and demonstrated her ability to encourage support for the PTO through the Auction donations and sponsorships that she has obtained. In both of the efforts she has been pro-active in her communication and follow-up. We are luck to have Nancy and her husband, John, as new members of the Horn Academy PTO.

Andrea Mills and Norma Krahe were the Volunteers for the Month for September. Andrea stepped up to chair the School Supply Committee when the previous chair moved out of state. She also heads up our Sno-cone Sales on Fridays and is a SDMC Representative. Norma has been busy with many jobs, chair of Room Parent Representatives, Horn Helping Hands, stuffing Horn Notes in everyone boxes weekly, and many other tasks that need to be done. We thank both of them for their time that they give so willingly to help out where needed! THANKS!

The volunteers at our school play a very important role. Volunteers tutor, help chaperon field trips, "stuff" red folders, plan and run our fundraisers. Some volunteers might help out with clerical work or beautification of the campus. If you have some time either during the school day, night, or weekends, we can probably find you a job that will benefit our school. Check this site for a listing of current needs. Your volunteer time can be for a short term or long term commitment. Contact someone about volunteering.

Our volunteers are the best! Horn has had over 300 active volunteers that contribute over 1200 hours per month in previous years. We have won awards for our great volunteer program. When you volunteer time, please be sure and login your hours. The district keeps track of the hours which can help us to get grants or other recognitions. To login, click on the HISD web site.
