Student Council
The Lovett Elementary Student Council offers students from grades 2nd-5th the opportunity to actively participate in school-wide initiatives, lend their hands to community causes, and see democracy in action. While representing Lovett, these student leaders will gain responsibility, increased pride in their school, and an overall awareness of needs at a local level and develop ways to help. Representatives along with school officers will be held to high academic and citizenship levels. Elections for student council are held at the beginning of each school year. Fourth and Fifth graders have the opportunity to run for an officer’s position. A Third grader will run for the position of Sergeant of Arms. The council meets the third Wednesday of each month in the Fit Pit from 3:00 – 4:00. The faculty advisors for the student Council are: Ms. Flory, Mrs. Louis, Mrs. Phillips and Mrs. Thomas.

Lovett Newspaper Club
A factory of story ideas, writing and critical thinking, the Lovett Newspaper Club offers you the opportunity to learn and practice some of the basic skills that a journalist needs to cover the news. Members of the club meet each Wednesday, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. in the computer lab. After researching and writing their own articles, the students put together The Lovett Scoop, a monthly letter that brings the latest news to our community of students, teachers and parents. Fourth and Fifth graders are eligible for joining and must be recommended by their teachers. Regular attendance is essential.
The Club is sponsored by Mrs. Paola Cairo, a journalist with more than 15 years of experience writing for newspapers and magazines.
Red Cross Club
Any student in grades 3-5 may join the Red Cross Youth Services Club. Red Cross Youth Services Club is a service organization/club whose primary focus is to enable youth to develop and utilize their individual talents through community service and educational programs. The volunteer activities develop leadership skills and set them on a road to lifetime humanitarian service. Meetings are held when needed.
