Children First; A Website About Child Labor

Adults should be working, not children!

Intro. To Child labor

WHAT IS CHILD LABOR?

Child labor is full-time under age (under 15) work that harms kids mentally, physically, and/or emotionally. Kids worldwide are being employed for sometimes even 5 cents an hour, and almost always it is against their will. This work causes kids to miss school and an education.

HOW DOES CHILD LABOR EFFECT CHILDREN?

First of all, children employed into full time work miss school, which leaves them without enough knowledge to decide if they should work and how much they should be paid. This leaves an opening for businesses. After employment, they continue to miss school, in fact, some Children Freedom Fighters stumbled upon a 12 year old who didn’t know their ABCs. Work in factories expose children to harmful chemicals. Children can and have become fatally ill from these chemicals. Think about all of the millions of children employed…

WHERE IS CHILD LABOR LOCATED?

Child Labor can be located almost everywhere in the world, but is mostly found in developing countries. Here’s some percentages: Asia: 61%; Africa: 32%; Latin America: 7%; and 1% in the US, Canada, and Europe. In some cases Child labor can be part of culture (especially in India) where even the government allows it to continue.  Right now it exists in America, but America still works on solving the problem. In other powerful countries businesses may use children in the production of goods and lie that they aren’t. According to Dallas News, in China it was recently found that child labor was used in the production of Olympic goods. The Prime Minister of India’s brother was found using child labor according to an article by time. Child labor has existed since the start of human life and is still high in existence, but that won’t prevent us from stopping it now.
