What is global warming?
Global warming is a term used to describe a slow increase in the earth’s typical ground and atmospheric temperatures across the planet. Measurements indicate that the global temperature has risen by about 1 degrees Fahrenheit in the past century. The warming appeared during a period when human-involved activities were beginning to increase the carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.
Even though most scientists believe that a rise in carbon dioxide emissions will lead to further global warming effects, uncertainties remain about the timing and severity of resulting climate change. Nevertheless, many believe that human activities are the ones most responsible for the long-term warming of the past century and that climatic changes caused by greenhouse gas increases will continue in the future. They believe there is enough evidence to assure an intelligent approach toward minimizing the future consequences of global warming.
It is a rise in the earth’s typical temperature. It is caused by the amounts of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere that trap and reemit heat from both the sun and the earth. This greenhouse effect is necessary to support life on earth. Without it, our planet would be some 60 degrees cool. What concerns scientists, is the alarming changes. -extreme temperatures, more intense droughts, and stronger storms-that have occurred in our climate since we have become an industrialized world.

What can you do
Since there is a lot of demand for electricity and other products, they are still being made. People concerned about the environment suggest:

♻Carpooling, and taking buses can prevent more vehicles on the road.
♻Turn off lights.
♻Get off people’s mailing lists. The fewer bits of mail you recieve, the more paper and ink you save.
♻Put your monitor to sleep or just shut it off.
♻Use stairs, not electric elevators.
♻Make your printer’s toner last. Avoid color. Change to economy mode.
♻(RRR)Reduce, Reuse, Recycle!
♻Purchase 100% chlorine free post commuter waste paper.
♻Reuse office supplies.
♻Curb phantom electricity. Phantom electricity is when you leave the electroic device plugged in and it keeps sucking your power. If you just unplug your device, you can decrease your electrical bills substantially.
♻Turn down all of your thermostats three degrees in the winter and up three degrees in the summer. You can prevent emissioning at least 1100 pounds of carbon emissions yearly.
♻Replace all of your lightbulbs with compact flourescent.
♻Inflate your car tires.
♻Turn down your water heater to 130 degrees Fahreheit.
♻Choose your seafood wisely. We will run out of seafood before 2048.
♻Purchase Energy Star products. They are among the top 25% most energy efficient products.
♻ Bring your own mug to Starbucks© and you recieve a 10 cent discount.
♻Compost
♻ Use organic cleaners.
♻Turn off your computer. Turning off a seventy five watt monitor saves $4.38 a month and reduces your carbon dioxide emissions by 750 pounds and burns 450 less pounds a year.
♻Cancel catalogs. If everyone in New York City recieved 10 catalogs a month, that is 240,248 tons of paper waste per month.
♻Use non-toxic, orgnic green cleaning products.
♻Fill your dishwasher and washer as full as possible.
♻Get an aerating faucet attachment.
