The Definition of AIDS

AIDS- a disease caused by a virus that attacks and weakens the body’s immune system. The virus can be transmitted by means of body fluids, such as blood.

 

What AIDS stands for

AIDS stands for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome. HIV, the virus that causes AIDS stands for Human Immuno-deficiency Virus.

What AIDS does to your body

Your immune system keeps viruses from making you sick. AIDS lowers your immune system so viruses can get in and do a lot of damage. This means that even a virus such as the cold or the flu can make you very sick.
