Pancreatic cancer is a disease that starts in the pancreas and moves to other parts of the body. If pancreatic cancer is caught early it can be avoided by having surgery to remove the pancreas or parts of it the life expectancy of pancreatic cancer is about 3-6 months, it is also the 4th leading cause of cancer deaths in the US. 95% of the time pancreatic cancer begins in exocrine cells.

 cancer is surprisingly more common in Ashkenazi Jews.

The other risk factors are: smoking,  diabetes,

 And certain hereditary conditions such as colon cancer and melanoma skin cancer.
