All-Earth Ecobot Challenge

Two teams of fifth grade Scroggins students participated in the All-Earth Ecobot Challenge on Saturday, April 25, 2009. This group of students meets after school and is part of our CASE After School Program. Our EcoKnights team won second place overall. The scoring included points given for robotics and marketing. The EcoKnights also received a fourth place in Robotics which involved building a robot and making it work. Our RoboBees team received a third place in Marketing which consisted of a PowerPoint presentation showing the students' design for a robot of the future that helps the Earth. For this project the students do research and market the product. We are very proud of our teams and their sponsors--Mr. Guidry and Ms. Chavez-Rodriguez, with assistance from Scroggins alumnus Randy Buentello, a college student. The performance of our students was particularly impressive because they were competing against 51 other teams consisting mostly of middle school students!
