Report Cards
A report card
is issued to the parent, or guardian at the close of
each nine week grading period. Grades obtained during
the days of attendance and/or current transferred
grades will be the basis for the report card grade.
When a student has transferred from one or more
schools within the grading period, grades on the
check-out sheet or latest report card are considered
as the basis for report card grades.
A sample
report card is included for reference at the back of
this handbook. More information regarding this
document will be given at Open House and/or Conference
Day.
All report
cards need to be signed and returned to the teacher
the next school day. A copy of your child’s report
card will then be returned to you.
Parents are
required to meet with their child’s teacher on the
first and third nine weeks grading period.

Progress Reports
The Notice

fourth week of the reporting period or as often as may
be deemed necessary. The Notice of Progress Form
will be made in triplicate - on copy placed on file in
the principal’s office, one copy sent to the parent
and one copy for the pupil’s permanent record file.
The parent must sign and return the form to indicate
to the teacher that the parent has seen the report.
Parents are then encouraged to schedule a conference
with their child’s teacher to work on strategies that
will help the student pass. Teachers are only
required to notify parent if a grade will be 69 or
lower.

Neighborhood G/T Program
Parents and Teachers may recommend students for gifted
and talented testing. Please contact your child’s
teacher for more information.
Homework
Homework is a
necessary opportunity for students to extend and
reinforce learning. In addition, homework builds
students’ sense of responsibility and provides a
connection between home and school to help parents be
more aware of school activities.
Each teacher
will assign weekly or daily homework. These
assignments need to be checked over by parents and
returned on the assigned due date. Please check with
your child’s teacher for specific homework questions.
If homework is taking an excessive amount of time at
your home, please contact your child’s teacher. If
you feel you would like your child to spend additional
time at home learning, some sources for workbook and
materials are: Target, Crystal Teacher Supply,
Lakeshore Learning Center and Southwest Teacher
Supply.
