Breakfast/Lunch

Every student will be offered free breakfast at Sutton every day starting August 14, 2006. Breakfast is served from 7:00 a.m. to 7:30 a.m. in the Sutton cafeteria. Parents may not accompany their children to breakfast.

Parents who wish to eat lunch with their children must check in at the front office. They must stay in the cafeteria and may not return to the classroom after eating.

Students who do not eat meat may request a Chef Salad from the cafeteria staff.

The Texas Department of Agriculture's new policy on child nutrition bans districts from selling or providing junk food at elementary schools. It also means parents can't bring sodas or lollipops to class parties and teachers can't give out hard candy or gum as treats.
Those items banned are considered foods that do not meet the U.S. Department of Agriculture's standard of minimal nutritional value. Previous policy banned the sale of those foods in cafeteria during breakfast and lunch for all grade levels.
